Mettle Ops Receives Business Development Support from the U.S. Small Business Administration
Sterling Heights, MI – Mettle Ops has been certified as a Participant in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program. This program allows the government to contract with socially and economically, disadvantaged small businesses and provides assistance in increasing economic activity.
The Small Business Administration strives to help small businesses develop and advance by providing a large network of field offices and partnerships. The Small Business Administration fosters the interests and concerns of small businesses.
As an 8(a) Business Development Program Participant, Mettle Ops can take advantage of specialized business training, counseling, marketing assistance and high-level executive development provided by the SBA. Mettle Ops can receive sole-source contracts (up to a ceiling of $4 million for goods and services and $6.5 million for manufacturing).
The 8(a) Business Development Program chooses small businesses that are at least 51 percent owned by U.S. citizens who are economically and socially challenged, have a good character foundation and show promise for success. The full list of qualifications can be found on the 8(a) Business Development Program page of the SBA website.
“We’re grateful for this opportunity and have a clear vision for our business plan. We plan on taking full advantage of this program and using all of the resources offered,” states Katie Bigelow, President of Mettle Ops.
As a certified participant, Mettle Ops receives strategy growth and business development assistance from a Business Opportunity Specialist who helps guide federal contracting, provide technical assistance, business coaching, counseling, marketing support, and executive development. The federal government attempts to award at least five percent of all federal contracting dollars to help small, disadvantaged businesses advance each year.
“We’re excited about the future of Mettle Ops and plan on growing our business to its greatest potential with the help of the U.S. Small Business Administration,” Bigelow said.
The program began on May 14, and Mettle Ops will participate in the program for the next nine years.
